Category - Ceramic Pendulum Clocks
The raku process for making these ceramic clocks originated in 16th century Japan. The process was revived and redesigned in the West in the early 1960s. The ceramic pieces are taken from the kiln, while still white hot, and immediately immersed in metal containers full of natural fuel, such as sawdust, straw and dry leaves, to obtain a strong reduction due to an absence of oxygen. This technique produces the metallic, shiny colors of the finished pieces.
